Upcoming New York tax sales
Two upcoming New York county tax sales are on our calendar, from Monday, October 19 to October 22, 2026: two tax deed sales, in two counties.
Each date was read on the county's own page, or the auction platform it links to; every row links to that source and says when we checked it. Confirm there before you register — dates move and lists shrink as owners pay.
New York rules in brief
New York has no single tax sale. Under Article 11 of the Real Property Tax Law, most counties foreclose unpaid tax liens themselves in an in rem court proceeding once the redemption period ends (two years after the lien date, three or four for homes and farms where a local law extends it), take title and auction the property with a quitclaim deed; since 2024 any surplus goes to the former owner and lienholders (RPTL §§ 1110, 1111, 1136, 1196–1197). A few places kept their own laws: Nassau County auctions liens with the rate bid down from 10% per six months, and New York City sells its liens only to a single trust, and it paused the 2026 sale.
The statute, how bidding works and the mistakes that cost new buyers money are in the New York guide.

Before your first New York sale
Tax deed sales — New York: the property itself is sold. The balance is usually due within hours or days, the deed usually comes without a title warranty, and whether the former owner can still redeem after the sale depends on the state; in New York: 2 years after lien date (3–4 if extended locally).
Get the final list the week of the sale, register before the county's cut-off, and check the payment form it accepts. Then research the property itself: how to research a property before a tax sale.
